Drumheller Channels Geology Hike

Join geologist-author Bruce Bjornstad on a 3-4 mile hike of moderate difficulty to directly explore field evidence for Ice Age Floods. One hundred years ago, J Harlen Bretz first recognized this area as one of the most spectacular examples of Ice Age Flood erosion in the Channeled Scabland.   Starting at Crab Creek (ancestral Columbia River) the hike passes by giant potholes, and several streamlined basalt islands rimmed with perhaps the most impressive examples of columnar basalt exposed anywhere in the scablands (photo).  Bring sturdy footwear and a camera; bus transport is provided.  To  register go to:
