A presentation by Steve Ghan

The Pacific Crest Trail draws thousands of hikers each year from around the world to hike all or much of the iconic trail between Mexico and Canada. Steve Ghan, a Richland resident, FFOF and IMAC member, climate scientist and advocate for action on climate change, spent three months in 2018 walking 1500 miles of the PCT from Dunsmuir California to Mexico.

Many of you subscribed to his trail journal, now publicly available at But that journal only told part of the story and showed only a small fraction of the photos of his adventure. In this presentation Steve will dig deeper to give you a more visceral sense of what it was like to walk 15-25 miles per day for three months, with and often without human contact, through stunningly beautiful but physically challenging terrain. He'll also explain why he did this, and introduce you to some of the remarkable people he met along the way and had the privilege to become friends with.
