Everyone talks about the desire for a "smart" grid, while simultaneously calling the North American grid the greatest engineering achievement of the 20th century. In reality, the U.S. power grid is clearly operated in an intelligent manner, since the lights are still on! So, what gives? What is a "smarter" grid and why do we need it? This talk will quickly discuss some of the pertinent history of the power grid, where we are today, and where we might head in the future.
Presented by Jason Fuller, research engineer at PNNL.
This talk will be held in the Doris Roberts Gallery

Location Richland Public Library 955 Northgate Dr, Richland
